Gift List: Essence of Luna

Luna has given Her share of blessings and curses to the warriors of Gaia: a weakness to her metal but the collaborative roles of Auspices, for example. The Garou have used this mix of strengths and weaknesses to their advantage, working with spirits to develop Gifts influenced by Luna Herself.

The following Gifts are available to the Ahroun auspice and the Silver Fang tribe.

Persuasion (•)

This Gift imbues a Garou’s words with intrinsic credibility and conviction, causing them to ring true to the ear and lay heavy on the heart.

Cost: None.
Dice Pool: Presence + Subterfuge + Wisdom
Action: Instant

Roll Results

Dramatic Failure: While the Garou’s words remain the same, something about them is wrong. Any one listening to the Garou for the rest of the scene automatically believes him to be untrustworthy, despite the meaning behind the Garou’s words.
Failure: The Gift fails to activate.
Success: Success grants the Garou a +1 bonus to all Social rolls for the rest of the scene, and allows successfully rolls to have uncommonly strong impact (such as changing long-held political views, or causing an addict to seriously reconsider the course of his life).
Exceptional Success: Five or more successes increases the bonus to Social rolls to +3 for the scene, and anything the Garou says can change the mind of even the most zealous (a Black Spiral Dancer’s questioning his devotion to the Wyrm or a vampire’s belief in the need for blood, though it does not circumvent the natural instincts present in any creature).

Sense Silver (••)

To those truly born Garou, Luna has granted the ability to sense werewolf’s greatest weakness, silver.

Cost: None.
Dice Pool: Wits + Survival + Wisdom
Action: Instant

Roll Results

Dramatic Failure: The Garou’s senses are overwhelmed with the sense of silver, causing the Garou to roll to resist frenzy.
Failure: The Garou does not sense silver anywhere in the vicinity.
Success: If successful, the Garou detects the presence of any silver within 100 yards. Three successes allows her to pinpoint the silver’s location.
Exceptional Success: Upon achieving five successes, the Garou not alone knows the exact location of the silver item, but what the nature of the silver is. This does not reveal exactly what the item is, but the Garou instinctively knows whether the item is a piece of jewelry, a weapon, ammunition, etc.

Silver Claws (•••)

Luna sends her children to teach this powerful but painful Gift to those warriors that gain her favor. When invoked, it transforms the werewolf’s claws to silver.

Cost: None.
Dice Pool: Purity
Action: Instant

Roll Results

Dramatic Failure: While the Garou’s claws do turn silver for a number of turns equal to her Vigilance, they lack any sharp edge or any ability to inflict damage. However, the Garou does suffer one level of aggravated damage for each turn the Gift is active.
Failure: The Garou’s claws fail to transform to silver.
Success: Silver claws inflict lethal damage to most targets and aggravated damage to those sensitive to silver (Garou as well as other Fera). The Garou suffers searing agony while manifesting these silver claws. Each turn, she gains one Gnosis, and all non-combat actions suffer a -1 penalty because of the distraction. After the Garou receives Gnosis equal to her Resolve, the Garou must make a roll to resist frenzy each turn, requiring one additional success for each consecutive roll after the first or else fall into frenzy.
Exceptional Success: The Garou’s claws become silver and exceptionally sharp, functioning as if the Gift Razor Claws were activated at the same time. Also, the Garou’s body becomes comfortable enough with the transformed silver that she does not suffer the -1 penalty to non-combat actions.

Luna’s Blessing (••••)

When Luna stands visible in the night sky, silver ceases to act as a bane to the Garou. Indeed, when the moon waxes full, silver may well turn on those who would wield it against Gaia's children.

Cost: None.
Dice Pool: No roll is necessary.
When the moon shows in the sky in a visible phase, the character suffers lethal or bashing damage from silver, rather than aggravated (damage type depends on the form of attack - a silver-headed cane would do bashing damage, while silver bullets inflict lethal damage). Additionally, all attacks against the werewolf with silver weapons at this time are considered to roll one less success than actually achieved - or two less during the full moon. The Garou retains his normal vulnerability to silver during the day, on nights of the new moon, and when the moon is below the horizon.
Action: Reflexive

Luna’s Avenger (•••••)

The Garou transforms his greatest weakness into his greatest strength, transforming his body into living silver.

Cost: 1 Gnosis
Dice Pool: No roll is necessary.
For the rest of the scene, the Garou is immune to the effects of silver. All damage inflicted by attacks made with the werewolf's body are considered to have been made with silver weapons. Additionally, the character gains two additional points of Stamina, also granting temporary health points as normal. Any damage marked to these additional health levels vanish harmlessly when the Gift ends.
